Think of what things that you really value in your life and symbols and images that can reflect those values. You want to always keep in mind that when you get a tattoo it is a permanent thing. Sure their are ways to remove them, but those procedures are usually very expensive and they will leave scars where your old tattoo was. Another thing you do not want to do make the mistake of doing, is to get a tattoo just because you are of legal age to get one. If you ask people about their first tattoo experience, I can guarantee you that many people will tell you that they wish they would have done more research before they got their first tattoo. Many of my friends are good examples of this. I have many friends who when they turned of legal age, they ran straight to the first tattoo parlor they could find and got a tattoo. They didn't bother researching the unique tattoo designs that where available and just went with whatever caught their eye at that moment. Ask my friends now and they will tell you they regret rushing into getting that tattoo. Some of them have even covered up their first tattoo and replaced it with a more well thought out tattoo. So just a word of warning, don't make that same mistake that they did. Once you do find the unique tattoo designs that you really do want, you'll than want to consider the color. different colors will match up better with your skin, depending on how light or dark your skin is. The best thing to do is to actually visit a few different tattoo artist and ask for their input on what colors will look best on your skin tone. A skilled artist will be able to give you some excellent advice, because they will have a lot of experience with tattooing different kinds of skin tones. So if you want to find unique tattoo designs, than don't rush into getting a tattoo, but take the time to really do your research.
